Premium symbols fit the narrative better. Golden grapes can pay roughly 2x to 10x stake for three to five on a line, and golden roses stretch that up to around 15x stake. The treasure chest is one of my favourites, bringing 3x to 20x stake when it lines up. The red haired daughter stands out as the only standard symbol that pays from just two matches, scaling up to about 25x stake for a full five of a kind.

Special symbols add another layer. The wild is the highest paying icon, again up to about 25x stake for a full line, and it substitutes for everything except the various scatters and the King Midas symbol. Scatters appear as jewelled chalices on specific reels and are used only to trigger free spins and cash awards. King Midas himself is a separate special symbol that does not pay directly but drives the main wild focused features that define the slot.

Bonus Features in Midas Wilds

The King Midas symbol is the key to the main reel modifiers in Midas Wilds. When he lands anywhere in view, one of three wild themed features can trigger. In one mode a full reel can become wild, in another several random positions turn wild across the grid, and in the strongest version you get extra wilds that carry multipliers, with values that can climb as high as 10x on winning combinations.

Free spins are triggered by landing three chalice scatters on reels one, three and five. The scatter on the middle reel can be a regular, Super or Mega version, granting 8, 12 or 16 spins along with an instant cash prize. During free spins any appearance of King Midas again triggers one of the wild features, and this time the wilds stick in place while a respin plays. Up to three respins can build on each trigger, and chaining these together is where I have seen the game come alive.

As an experienced slots player, I see Midas Wilds as a solid, feature rich title rather than a game changer. The adjustable RTP and slightly old fashioned layout are downsides, but the combination of stacked wild reels, random wild positions, multiplier wilds and sticky respins gives it a punchy feel when things line up. If you are comfortable with swingy, medium to high variance play, there is enough gold here to warrant a few sessions.
